Centre d’Expertise Industrialo-Portuaire (CEIP)
About the CEIP
What is the CEIP?
The CEIP (Industrial-Port Centre of Excellence) brings together experts and researchers, providing scientific services and expertise in the environmental and occupational health and safety (OHS) sectors to industrial and port managers in the St. Lawrence region, across the country and overseas. It also provides centralized research and development services and technical support adapted to the specific environmental challenges of managing and operating in industrial—port zones.
In collaboration with universities, research centres and researchers, the CEIP’s (a division of INREST) flagship project is setting up environmental observatories along the St. Lawrence and equipping stakeholders with the necessary tools to preserve ecosystems in the river’s industrial-port zones. This is done through near-real-time data collection, as specified in the Enviro-Actions model, which strives for preventive rather than responsive management. Through this work, new promoters will be able to benefit from unbiased scientific data that is socially acceptable. The near-real-time data will enable managers to reduce the time and monetary investment associated with environmental authorization requests.
